Individual therapy is also called psychotherapy or counseling. The process involves a therapist and client meeting one to one in a safe, confidential space, where the client can process, explore, and make lasting changes. The length of therapy varies greatly from person to person, from as few as six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client's needs.
Family Therapy involves the therapist and some or all of the family as the "client". Family relationships, dynamics, and experiences are discussed and examened, based on the family's needs and concerns. Family therapy includes confidentiality with the family, not with the individual persons, allowing for an open and involved experience for all members.
Supervision for prelicensed LPCs and MFTs is a necessary and helpful part of the journey towards independent licensure. During this process, I utilize my knowledge, skills, and experiences to focus on developement of the therapist in their clinical work and therapeutic skills. Please consult the BBS for your particular profession's supervision requirements.
